Our Tree of Life Memorial Program

A tree represents quiet strength, beauty,
longevity and peacefulness

An ideal memorial to a person's life.

 Every Tree Honours A Life

W. J. Jones & Son Funeral Home, Moose Jaw and Prairie Memorial Funeral Home, Chaplin/Herbert initiated the Memorial Tree of Life program at the beginning of the new millennium – January, 2000 as a further demonstration of our family’s commitment to the community,  appreciation to those families who we have been privileged to serve and as a remembrance to a loved one.  This Tree of Life program will make a meaningful contribution to our community and surrounding area.

For each family served from the beginning of 2000, trees have been planted in the parkland of Wakamow Valley and now (2008) the Besant Park on the Trans Canada Highway #1 west of  Caronport, Saskatchewan. By doing this we are  remembering those who have died in the previous year.  There will be no fee for the planting.  This planting is our gift to you in memory of your loved one.

A unique way to honour life the Tree of Life Program is also a way for W.J.Jones & Son to give back to the communities we serve.  This program's contribution of trees will ensure the continued growth and enhancement of one of our most precious resources.

A Place for Remembering

W. J. Jones & Son has initiated this Tree of Life Program as a way of making a meaningful contribution to the communities we serve, and to provide families with a memorial which is also of benefit to the environment.

The Tree of Life Program belongs to everyone in the community, and will remain as a protected sanctuary. The memorial planting area will hold only trees indigenous to the land so that essential beauty of this region will continue to flourish over time.

For generations to come, the Tree of Life forestation will be a natural place for families to reflect, remember and pay tribute to their loved ones.

  Trees Grow Over Time

To ensure the best beginning possible for these Memorial Trees Prairie Habitat has been contracted by W.J.Jones & Son Funeral Home and Prairie Memorial Funeral Home with the honourable task of planting these trees.

Families will be invited to attend a special dedication commemorative ceremony where the trees were planted for their loved ones.

Over time the memorial tree will grow, becoming a living sanctuary - a place of peace.  Families can visit here any time of the year, help care for the trees, or just walk through the memorial parkland.

  A Symbol of Remembrance

A tree represents quiet strength, beauty, longevity and peacefulness - an ideal memorial to a loved one's  life.

A Source of  Comfort and Meaning

Knowing a tree stands in a protected area can also be a source of comfort and meaning for families dealing with a loss.  For W. J. Jones & Son Funeral Home, donating a tree for each family is just one further way we can hope to lessen the burden of grief for families who have come to us for support.

    A Living Tribute

W. J. Jones & Son sincerely hopes that with the establishing and continued growth of the trees in the  Parkland, we will help families create a unique and lasting contribution to the community.  To find out more about this Tree of Life, A Symbol of Remembrance Program, please phone W.
