Kathleen
“Kay” Clarke Ellis, passed
away peacefully at Providence
Place in Moose Jaw
on
January 15,
2002.
Kay was born May 20, 1917
in the
Scotia
Hospital
in Moose
Jaw.
She attended King
George
School
and Central
Collegiate. She later
received her Associate Degree from the Toronto Conservatory of
Music. She taught
piano and organ to numerous students over the years.
Kay was an active member of Zion
United
Church,
a Past-President of the Canadian Club of Moose Jaw and the
Music Teacher’s Association of Sask.
She loved ceramics, swimming, and music. Kay and her late husband, Austin T.Ellis, traveled the
world in their retirement years, but most loved their time at
Buffalo
Pound
Lake.
She is predeceased by her husband of 59 years, Austin
in 1998; her youngest son, Ron in 1980;
her parents, Harry and Jessie Clarke; and her brother, Mac
Clarke. She is
survived by daughters: Ruth
Ellis – Regina; Margot
(Dennis) Knight – Phoenix, Ariz.; and Lucille (Larry) Evans – Port Hawksbury, N.S.;
sons: Ross
(Pat) Ellis – Thompson, MB.;
and Jim (Betty) Ellis – Calgary, AB.;
grandchildren: Jenny
and Katherine Knight; Jocelyn,
Jessica, Jillian and Luke Evans;
Stephanie, Sara, Clarke, and Lisa Ellis;
and great-granddaughter, Tiana Vassolo; and sister, Ruth Hamilton – Norco, LA.
Kay was a gentle person and was greatly loved and will be
missed by all. Following
Cremation, a Service of Remembrance will be held at Zion
United
Church
on Saturday
January 19, 2002
at 1:30 pm.
Dr. Bob Kimmerly will officiate, assisted by Linda Owens.
Memorialization will take place at the family plot,
Sunset
Cemetery.
In lieu of flowers, memorials to
Providence
Place, 100 2nd Ave.
N.E.,
Moose Jaw,
S6H 1B8, would be
appreciated. In
living memory of Kay,
a tree will be planted in Wakamow
Valley
by W.J.Jones & Son Funeral Home.
