DAVID DOIG

DAVID JAMES DOIG, passed away peacefully on September 8, 2002 with his sons Larry and Les at his side. David was born February 25, 1927 in the Parkbeg district, attended school in Parkbeg, married Dorothy Freeman of the Edgehill district in 1947 and enjoyed farming all his life on the family farm just a half mile south of Parkbeg.  He enjoyed all aspects of farming, raising cattle, growing grain, and was an active participant in community and church life. Dad was predeceased by his loving wife, Dorothy in 1998; his sister, May Lawson; his brother, Archie; brother-in-law and sister-in-law, Forrest and Lillian Wharren. David leaves to mourn his sons: Larry (Rhona) of Golden Prairie and Les (Ellen) of Parkbeg; his grandchildren: Camille, Ryan and Marnie, Marshall, Houston, Tanner, Rosalyn and Phil, Janine, Alison and David and Brad; his sister, Grace Bickford of Regina; sister-in-law, Daisy Doig of Moose Jaw and brother-in-law, Jim Lawson of Moose Jaw; as well as numerous nieces and nephews.  He will be sadly missed by his many dear friends who enjoyed his company and shared with him a card game or two, a rodeo event, a twirl around the dance floor, a game of shuffleboard or just a cup of coffee.  We wish to say a special thank you to the staff at Extendicare for their compassionate care, and to all those whose visits to Dave gave him comfort during his illness.  The Funeral Service will be held on Thursday, September 12, 2002 at 3:30 p.m. in the W.J.Jones & Son Funeral Chapel, 106 Athabasca St. E., Moose Jaw. Della Ferguson and Reverend Allan Buchanan will officiate.  Interment will follow at Sunset Cemetery. Memorials for the Canadian Cancer Society, 223 Fairford St. E., Moose Jaw, S6H 0E1 would be appreciated. In living memory of David, a tree will be planted in Wakamow Valley by W.J.Jones & Son Funeral Home.
