LORINE DOBRESCU

LORINE HELEN DOBRESCU of Victoria Towers, Moose Jaw, passed away on Tuesday, August 6, 2002 after a long and courageous battle with cancer.  Born April 16, 1931 in Wapella, Saskatchewan, she moved to Moose Jaw in 1944 where she later met and married Benjamin Dobrescu.  Her garden was a great pleasure and her special friendship with her sister-in-law, Yvonne meant a great deal to her.  Predeceased by her husband, Benjamin and her parents, Ethel and John Gemmell, Lorine leaves to mourn her passing: son, Randy (Shirley) of Regina, Sk.; daughters: Jane (Lou) Gubbe of Battleford, Sk., Julie McLaren of Moose Jaw, Sk., seven grandchildren, two great-grandchildren, her brother, Lorne (Ila) Gemmell of Morden, Manitoba as well as aunts, cousins and numerous nieces and nephews.  A Memorial Service will be held on Saturday, August 10, 2002 at 11:00 a.m. in the W. J. Jones & Son Funeral Chapel, 106 Athabasca St. E., Moose Jaw.  Reverend Peter J. Calhoun will officiate.  In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the Canadian Cancer Society, 223 Fairford St. E., Moose Jaw, Sask., S6H 0E1. In living memory of Lorine, a tree will be planted in Wakamow Valley by W.J.Jones & Son Funeral Home.
