VIOLET CRAMPTON

Mrs.Violet Flora Crampton, age 94 years, passed away peacefully at Avonlea Villa, Avonlea, Sask. on Sunday, October 27, 2002. She was born in Owen Sound, Ontario where she eventually met and married George Crampton of Sask. in 1927.  She resided in Woodrow, Sask. from 1927 until 1975, then to Lafleche until 1982 when she moved to Moose Jaw. Violet has resided at Avonlea Villa since 2000.  Before moving to Sask. in 1927, Violet was employed as a Dental Assistant for George’s cousin “Bud” in Owen Sound. During their years together, George and Violet enjoyed many winters in their second home in Texas. She developed many wonderful friendships there that lasted the rest of her life. One of her fondest memories was taking the C.G.I.T. girls camping and acting as a role model for youth.  She also spent countless hours helping with “Cradle Roll” welcoming the new babies into the United Church at Woodrow. Violet and her daughter-in-law, Florence would grow a garden of flowers specifically for this one special day. Violet was a homemaker, raising her only son on the Crampton family farm.  One of  her greatest joys was her grandchildren, who lived across the garden path on the farm.  In later years, her great-grandchildren became as much of a joy.  Violet was a devoted wife, mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother.  She was an active member in the Order of the Eastern Star, Winabel Homemakers, U.C.W., church choirs, and the Friendship Circle at the First Baptist Church of Moose Jaw.  Predeceased by her parents, brothers, sister, and her loving husband, George in 1987, she is survived by her only son, Jim (Florence); grandchildren: Ross Crampton (Maxine)(Lisa); Susan Gillett (Doug)(Kurt, Trish), Joanne Crampton (Madison), and numerous nieces and nephews.  Funeral Services will be held at W.J.Jones & Son Chapel on Friday, November 1, 2002 at 1:30 pm. Reverend Steven MacCuaig will officiate.  Interment will follow at Sunset Cemetery. Violet’s family would like to extend their thanks to the staff at Avonlea Villa and to Dr. Wigmore for their care and kindness.  In lieu of flowers, memorials to the Avonlea Villa, Box 239, Avonlea, S0H 0C0, would be appreciated.  In living memory of Violet, a tree will be planted in Wakamow Valley by W.J.Jones & Son Funeral Home.
