Helena
Alda (Shortie) Butler
of
Pioneer Village, and formerly of Monk Ave.,
passed away peacefully in hospital August
23, 2002
at the age of 85 years. Born
in Moose
Jaw,
September 16, 1916,
Mrs. Butler has been a Moose Jaw
resident all her life. She
attended King
George
Elementary
School, Central
Collegiate
High
School,
and graduated from the Providence Hospital School of Nursing
(1941). She married
her loving husband Arthur and after raising her family, she
continued her nursing career until retirement, September 1981.
She is predeceased by her husband, Arthur; father and
mother, William and Alda Stephenson; sisters, Gladys McGrath and
Helen Cameron. She is
survived by son, David (Arlene) of Brampton, granddaughter
Michelle (Walter), great-grandchild, Emily; granddaughter, Susan
(Phillip), great-grandchildren, Alex and Madeline; daughter,
Louise (Frank) Gyrlevich of Moose Jaw, granddaughter, Robyn
(Darwin), great-grandchildren, Kyle, Ryan, and Madison,
granddaughter, Kristin, great-grandchild Jordan; son, John
(Christine) of Saskatoon, and
grandchildren, Jessica, Michael, and Katelyn.
Mrs. Butler is also survived by nieces, Marilyn Knarr,
Noella Busse, Noella Cummings, Holly Reiter; nephews, Doug and
Bill Cameron, and Bob and Doug Davis.
Mrs. Butler was devoted to family and friends and the
caring for others. Her
love for nursing, particularly her many years in maternity, and
her unending kindness will not be forgotten by all who were
touched by her. Funeral
Services will be held at W.J.Jones & Son Chapel on Tuesday, August
27,
2002
at 3:30 pm.
Reverend Betty Bradley will officiate.
Interment will follow at Rosedale
Cemetery. Memorials to the CNIB, 2550

would be appreciated. In
living memory of Mrs. Butler, a tree will be planted in Wakamow
Valley
