Charles
Ward Bruce of
Tugaske passed away at the age of 83 years, in University
Hospital
in Saskatoon
on Friday,
February 22, 2002, with all
of his family at his side. Charlie
was born in Tugaske on
June 24,
1918.
He served during WWII for 4½ years where he was a POW for
9 months. Upon his
return to Tugaske, he actively farmed until retirement. He was
very involved in community life and founded the first 4-H
Woodworking Club in Canada
for which
he was inducted into the 4-H Hall of Fame. Charlie spent endless hours in his shop doing what he
enjoyed most. He loved
family camping, golf tours, dancing, and playing cards.
Charlie and Marge enjoyed 25 winters in sunny Arizona. He will ever be remembered for his sense of humour which
was kept until the end and his love of family.
Charlie is survived by his loving wife and best friend of
43 years, Marjorie; sons:
Monty (Brenda); and Gary (Sheri); grandchildren: Todd
(Brandie) and Tisha (Troy);
great-grandchildren: Madison
and Braydon; sister,
Margaret; special sister-in-law and brother-in-law, Helen and Mac;
and numerous relatives and friends.
He was predeceased by his parents and one brother. Following Cremation, a Service
of Remembrance will be held
at the Tugaske Community Centre on Tuesday,
February 26, 2002
at 2:00 pm. Pastor Rick McCorrister will officiate. Royal Canadian Legion Funeral Rites will be conducted by
the Central Butte Branch. Memorialization
will take place at the Tugaske
Cemetery.
In lieu of flowers, memorials to the Canadian Cancer
Society, 223 Fairford St.E., Moose Jaw,
S6H 0E1, would be
appreciated. In
living memory of Charlie, a tree will be planted in Wakamow
Valley
by W.J.Jones & Son Funeral Home.
