GERALD BLANCHARD

Gerald Joseph Blanchard of Moose Jaw, passed away in the Regina General Hospital, Thursday, March 28, 2002 at the age of 76 years. Born in Moose Jaw in 1925, he received part of his education in Quebec. Jerry has resided in this area most of  his life. Jerry joined the Royal 22nd Regiment in 1941 and served in North Africa. He was discharged in 1943 after completing one tour of duty. Jerry will be remembered for 34 years in farm machinery and direct sales. He served as councillor for 3 years with the R.M. of Terrell (Spring Valley)Jerry also served as President of the South Saskatchewan Wildlife Association and was an original member of the Lindale School Board representing Capital School. He was also a long time member of St. Joseph’s Roman Catholic Church, Moose Jaw, Sask. Predeceased by his parents, two brothers: Jim and Frank, Grand-daughter: Leanne.  He  is survived by his wife Terry, three sons: Garry (Veronica), Russell (Myrna), David (Dianna) all of Moose Jaw. Four daughters: Darlene Blanchard-Moose Jaw, Pauline (Raymond) Lavallee, Childs Lake, Manitoba, Barb (Allen) Pilsner-Moose Jaw, and Eunice (Don) Purington-Moose Jaw, 15 grandchildren, 6 great-grandchildren, one sister: Edna (Earl) Boan-Moose Jaw, a brother: George (Nan)- Beaver Falls, B.C. as well as numerous nieces and nephews. Funeral Mass will be celebrated at St.Joseph’s Roman Catholic Church, 1064-3rd Ave.N.W., Moose Jaw, Sask., Tuesday, April 2, 2002 at 10:30 a.m. Reverend Father David Cottingham  will preside. Interment will follow at the Rosedale Cemetery. Visitation for family and friends will take place Monday evening, April 1, 2002 , 7-8p.m.at the W.J. Jones & Son Funeral Home. Memorials to the Heart & Stroke Foundation, 279 Third Avenue N., Saskatoon, Sask. S7K 9Z9 or the Canadian Diabetes Association, 104- 2301 Avenue C. North, Saskatoon , Sask. S7L 5Z5 would be appreciated.   In living memory of Jerry, a tree will be planted in Wakamow Valley by W.J.Jones & Son Funeral Home.

Je me rappellerai toujours de Gérald, pour sa bonne humeur et ses histoires qui nous ont tant fait rire (même si on savait qu'il exagérais quelques fois).  Transmet aussi nos sympathies à ses enfants et frères et soeurs.(J'ai essayé de le faire en anglais pour eux mais je manque de pratique et je ne voudrais pas avoir commis d'erreur).  Nos prières sont avec toi.
