STEVE BABICH

MR. STEPHEN (STEVE) BABICH of Moose Jaw, passed away at Moose Jaw Providence Place on Monday, July 8, 2002 at the age of 86 years.  Steve was born March 4, 1916 in Moose Jaw and attended Westmount Public School. In 1929 he moved to the farm in the Burdick district and attended Technical High School. After high school Steve became a full time farmer and rancher on his father’s farm. He married Doris (Zinn) in 1945 and together they made their home on the farm.  In 1960 he moved to farm in the Pasqua district where he lived until 1979. Steve then moved to Moose Jaw where he resided until his passing.  Steve had a true love for the land and enjoyed driving farm equipment.  He enjoyed traveling, especially south in the winter months, visiting friends and family.  Predeceased by his parents, Alexander and Anna, brother-in-law, Myron Chomiak and nephew, Brent Babich.  Steve is lovingly remembered and sadly missed by his family: wife Doris, son Grant (Beverly); grandchildren Byron, Brandon (special friend Kelly) and Tamara – all of Moose Jaw; sisters Mary (George) Johnson of Toronto and Ollie Chomiak of Winnipeg, brother John (Margaret) of Moose Jaw, sister-in-law Lil Lyons of Moose Jaw as well as numerous nieces and nephews. The Funeral Service will be held on Friday, July 12, 2002 at 1:30 p.m. in the W. J. Jones & Son Funeral Chapel, 106 Athabasca St. E., Moose Jaw.  Dr. Bob Kimmerly will officiate.  Interment will follow at Rosedale Cemetery. Visitation for family and friends will be held Thursday evening 7-8 p.m. at the Funeral Home.  In lieu of flowers, memorials for Ina Grafton Gage Home, 200 Iroquois St. E., Moose Jaw, S6H 4T3 or to Providence Place Foundation, 100 Second Ave. N.E., Moose Jaw, S6H 1B8 would be gratefully accepted. In living memory of Steve, a tree will be planted in Wakamow Valley by W.J.Jones & Son Funeral Home.
