VIOLA HOYES 

Viola Isabel (Connelly) Hoyes was born at Chamberlain, SK on July 10, 1913 and attended Clarendon School. She was predeceased by her mother Helen September 9, 1949 and her father William Connelly April 10, 1967, a sister Stella in 1915, and stepmother Lurane September 7, 1966. Viola spent her earlier years in the Chamberlain and Tuxford areas, coming to Moose Jaw in January 1944 and was employed at the Harwood Hotel and Turner & Ellis Hardware Co. Ltd. from November 29, 1945 until January 10, 1953. She married James Hoyes, formerly of Eyebrow, SK, in 1952, who predeceased her January 6, 1972.  Viola was employed at the Canadian Bible Society Store as a part time sales clerk from April 1973 until December 1979.  She was a Red Cross Volunteer at the Blood Donor Clinics, and visited shut-ins at Pioneer’s Lodge and was a Hospice Volunteer. She was a member of Mizpah Chapter #1 O.E.S., the Federal Superannuates Association and Friends of the Library.  She enjoyed gardening, reading, letter writing, making scrapbooks, and collecting recipes.  Viola is survived by numerous cousins, nieces, and nephews.  The Funeral Service will be held at W.J.Jones & Son Chapel on Monday February 4, 2008 at 1:30 pm. Pastor Ashley Taylor will officiate, assisted by Mr. Dale Harris.  Interment will follow at Rosedale Cemetery.  Visitation for family and friends Sunday evening 7 – 9 pm at the Funeral Home. Viola was an adherent of Sunningdale Community Church. Contributions to a charity of your choice would be appreciated. In living memory of Viola, a tree will be planted in Besant Park by W.J.Jones & Son Funeral Home.

Sue & Ray Woolhouse - Reigate, England UK.: Ann and Clay spoke often of how Auntie Vi 'didn't want to put anyone to any trouble', when I saw her last year I understood exactly what they meant, a truly lovely person.

Linda & Mary Bachmann - Regina, SK:  I am sending this note on behalf of my mother, Mary. She & Viola were friends & corresponded for over 60 years. They shared many recipes as well as mutual intersts like gardening & keeping scrapbooks. She will certainly miss her letters. As my mother fractured her hip in Nov., she is not yet too mobile so will not be able to attend the service. she will however, remember viola with fondness.
