STANLEY J. FOWLER

It is with great sadness the family of STANLEY JAMES FOWLER announce his passing on Sunday, March 9, 2008 at the age of 88 years. Stan served overseas in 1939 and flew Spitfires with Squadron 616 until 1945.  He returned to his pre war position with CP Railway until retiring as number one Engineer on VIA Rail.  He enjoyed his yard, gardening, fishing and walking the dogs in the woods.  Predeceased by his wife, Beverly and his daughter, Pamela Fowler, Stan will be greatly missed by his children: Margaret (Jon) Friel, Gordon (Beverly) Fowler, Patricia (Jim Burrows) Olson, his grandchildren: Dustin (Emily), Scott (Margaret), Brandon (Carly), Amy, Cade and Morgan and his great-grandchildren: Michael, Alexandra, Bella, Elizabeth, Daniel and William.  Stan will be greatly missed by all who knew him. A Service of Remembrance will be held on Saturday, March 15, 2008 at 1:30 p.m. in the W.J.Jones & Son Funeral Chapel, Moose Jaw. Major Don Law of the Moose Jaw Salvation Army will officiate.  Memorialization will take place in the Prairie Memorial Columbarium at a later time.  For those so wishing, memorials may be made to the Saskatchewan Heart & Stroke Foundation, 2360 2nd Ave., Regina, S4R 1A6 or to a charity of one’s choice. In living memory of Stanley, a tree will be planted in Besant Park by W.J.Jones & Son Funeral Home.

Sarah Bittles - Moose Jaw, SK: Stan was a man with a million stories to tell ....I shared many with him of the time he spent overseas as he was posted close to where I grew up. We shared a special day when he was in Pioneer village , we went to a Christmas tea that they held .There he shared stories with another veteran shall always remember these special stories.

Kent & Crystal Wheatley - Edmonton, AB: My condolences with the passing of you father, grandfather.  I was always very fond of Stan.  I lived next door to Stan for all my childhood and was close to him.  I remember he carved all the names of the children in the neighborhood on his well he had in the front yard.  He will be sadly missed. 

Jim Pierce - Amelia Island, Florida: To Gord and Family:  We are saddened to learn of your Dad's death.  He and his greatest generation worked hard and loved hard for us to have a better life and we are grateful.  Stan is at Perfect Peace. And concurrently we learn of the birth of Finn Michael Doyle the first grandson to a mutual friend!

Pat Wheatley - Moose Jaw SK.: The children and I were neighbors of Stan and Bev for many years on Pascoe Crescent.  We couldn't have asked for better neighbors to have--we thought the world of them both.  They were so good to the kids and to me and we will always remember their part in our lives.  I am so sorry.  Stan was very special.  His landscaping help, our over-the-fence chats, our visits with Captain and Molly, the stories of his early Moose Jaw days and of the war...we will remember.
