JOHN FEARNSIDE

A Beloved Brother, Father, Grandfather,

 Great-Grandfather and Friend

August 22, 1923-January 1, 2008

John was born in Bengough, Saskatchewan. On January 1, 2008, at age 84, he passed away peacefully at the Moose Jaw Union Hospital.  He is predeceased by his wife Florence, his parents, John and Mary Ann and by three sisters: Isabella Mac Donald, Ivy Mitchell and Dorothy Cook. He is lovingly remembered and will be missed by sisters Iona MacLean, Iris Crawford and Irene Gorman, sister-in-law Bev Sanders and nieces and nephews; by his children: Garry (Cathy) Lister of Regina, Arlene (Gary) Walker of Swift Current, Bob (Shirley) Lister of Lloydminster, David (Sylvia) Lister of Moose Jaw and Jo-Anne (Wade) Holmes of Whitehorse; and by their children: Michelle and Amanda, Jill (Brendan) and Blaine (Karen), Joey and Robbie, Taryn and Andrew, and Amber and Owen.  He also leaves behind six great grandchildren. John married Florence on November 1, 1969 and together they farmed the family homestead near Bengough until 1992 when they retired in Moose Jaw. For the past several years he has enjoyed living at the Bentley Retirement Community.  John was devoted to his family and to farming. He could always be counted on when a neighbor was in need of a helping hand.  He enjoyed playing cards as well as spending time with family and friends. We would like to thank Dr. B Van Heerden, the Union Hospital health care staff, Five Hills Home Care and staff at the Bentley Retirement Home for looking after John during his illness and stay in hospital.  Thank you on his behalf to all of his friends for their support and caring. In keeping with John’s wishes a private family service will be held at a later time. We gratefully decline flowers instead we would appreciate your contributions to the Canadian Cancer Society, 61B Ross St. W., Moose Jaw, S6H 2M2 or a charity of your choice. In living memory of John, a tree will be planted in Besant Park by W.J.Jones & Son Funeral Home.
