GENE BOWLER

William Eugene (Gene) Bowler passed away on Tuesday, February 6, 2008 at his home in Toronto, from cancer. Gene was born in Prestbury, Cheshire, England on December 3, 1945. He moved with his parents to Canada in 1947 and was educated in Moose Jaw at Queen Elizabeth, William Grayson, and Central Collegiate. After graduating from the University of Saskatchewan with a degree in engineering in 1967, he began working with Otis Elevator Company, and was employed by them until the time of his death. Predeceased by his father, Joe in 1997, Gene is survived by his sons, Stephen and Christopher (Mary), and their mother, Gloria, his mother Shirley Bowler, his brother Dave (Nora) and their children Meagan (Ben Weber) and Brad, his aunt, Joan Arthur and his cousins, Bob (Teresa), Ken (Linda), Hugh (Melinda) and their children. Gene was very proud of and close to his children. He loved his work and will be greatly missed by his colleagues at Otis. Gene's favorite pastimes were reading, doing puzzles of all kinds, playing bridge, and barbequing for friends and family from his favorite place, his garage. A memorial service for Gene will be held at W.J. Jones and Son Funeral Chapel on Friday February 22, at 1:30. Rev. John Carley will officiate. Memorialization will take place in the Prairie Memorial Columbarium at a later date. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Canadian Cancer Society or a charity of your choice. In living memory of Gene, a tree will be planted in Besant Park by W. J. Jones & Son Funeral Home.
