LYLAH ALM

It is with great sadness that we mark the passing of Lylah Alm of Moose Jaw, on Tuesday February 5, 2008, with her family at her side. Lylah was born in Assiniboia, SK on August 8, 1917. She spent her childhood years in Scout Lake, SK, moving to Moose Jaw in 1935. In 1942 she married and began raising her daughter.  Lylah enjoyed working at the PFRA and Public Health until her retirement in 1977.  She then took great pleasure in travelling and spending time with her family.  She was particularly proud of her daughter, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren.  Lylah is survived by her husband of 54 years, Orville Alm; daughter, Janet (Gene) Mykytiw; grandchildren, Chad (Renee) Coles, and Tanis (Derek) Hicks;  great-grandchildren, Ainsley, Andon, Avery, and Brodie; sister Thelma Pilsner, and many nieces and nephews. Lylah is predeceased by her parents, Matt and Anna Field; sister Agnes Inverarity, her first husband Nicholaus Swiderek in 1948, nieces Diane and Audrey, and nephew Ron.  Lylah’s joy for life and love for her family will be greatly missed.  The Funeral Service will be held at W.J.Jones & Son Chapel on Friday February 8, 2008 at 10:30 am.  Reverend Doug Shepherd will officiate. Interment will follow at Rosedale Cemetery. Memorials to Central Lutheran Church, or to a charity of choice, would be appreciated.  In living memory of Lylah, a tree will be planted in Besant Park by W.J.Jones & Son Funeral Home.

Hugh Boyd - Moose Jaw, SK: My deceased wife Joyce and I have known Lylah since 1966 and regarded her as a true friend. She visited us several times. She was such a kind, loving lady. She and Joyce worked together at the Moose Jaw Public Health for many years when Joyce was a health nurse. After they both retired they talked many times on meeting and by phone. We sort of lost touch over the past few years until they met again at the Pioneer Lodge palliative care unit where they were being assisted by the wonderful staff there. It was a real treat for both ladies to spend some time together, they enjoyed it tremendously for as long as they could. Now both ladies are together again where they can once again enjoy each others company. I know they will like that, good friends stay together for ever.
