MABLE ERICKSON

Margaret “Mable” Erickson of Chateau St.Michael, passed away peacefully with family by her side on Saturday August 11, 2007. Mable was born in the Darmody district May 5, 1914. She is predeceased by her husband, Melvin (Jack) in 1965, brothers Phillips and Ted Wilkins; grandsons Garth Hooey, Kevin Munroe, and Edward Munroe; a great-great-granddaughter; son-in-law Neil Hooey;  and sister-in-law Almeda Wilkins. Mable is survived by three daughters: Alice (Hal) Keir – Moose Jaw, Doris Hooey and Shirley Abrams - Calgary; grandchildren:  Patricia Munroe, Cheryl (Kurt) Chow, Doug (Dianne) Munroe, Gayle Nielsen, Sheila Dixon, Barry (Nicole) Hooey, Keith Hooey, Lori Hooey (Rob), Shelley Hooey, Tricia (Kyle) Mitchell,  and Brian (Shawneen) Abrams;  17 great-grandchildren; 9 great-great-grandchildren; sister Laura Erickson; brother Harold (Ethel) Wilkins; sisters-in-law Mildred Wilkins and Dolly Erickson; several nieces, nephews and cousins; and special friend Rita (Lyle) Klindt.  Mable enjoyed many trips to Hawaii with various family members.  She was an avid bridge player and spent many enjoyable hours at the Cosmo Centre, where she was a life member. She also traveled to bridge tournaments throughout the area. The family would like to thank the staff at Chateau St.Michael and all those who visited Mable while in hospital.  The family also expresses appreciation to the staff of Second West (Union Hospital), Dr. Lawrence and Dr. Sanderson for their compassion and caring.  The Funeral Service will be held at W.J.Jones & Son Chapel on Wednesday August 15, 2007 at 1:30 pm.  Pastor Marvin Seaborg will officiate. Interment will follow at Sunset Cemetery.  Visitation for family and friends will be held Tuesday evening 7 – 9 pm at the Funeral Home. Memorials to the Moose Jaw Union Hospital Foundation, 455 Fairford St.E., S6H 1H3, or to Chateau St.Michael, 525 7th Ave. S.E., S6H 8B6, would be appreciated.

In living memory of Mable, a tree will be planted by W.J.Jones & Son Funeral Home.
