SAMUEL  DOWNEY 

MR. SAMUEL DOWNEY, age 84, of Moose Jaw went Home to be with his Lord on October 28, 2007, with family by his side.  Sam was born in Moose Jaw and was educated at City View School south of Moose Jaw and at McKague, Saskatchewan.  At age nineteen he joined the Royal Canadian Air Force serving four years.  In 1946 he married Isabell Bousquet at Tisdale, Saskatchewan. Sam worked at several locations before he and Isabell moved to Moose Jaw in 1948, working mainly in the mechanical and welding fields. Sam and Isabell raised their four children in Moose Jaw: Shelda, Ed, Pat and Beverley.  He was predeceased by his parents, Sam and Mary Downey, son Ed, and brothers: Bill, Roy, Art, Dick and Jim.  Sam is survived by his wife of sixty-two years, Isabell; daughters: Shelda (Bernie) and Beverley, son, Pat; grandchildren: Wenda and Tara; Bryce, Laurel and Corrin; Darla and Jeff; Dan and Mike; seventeen great-grandchildren, daughter-in-law Linda; two sisters: Jean and Dorothy, and extended family, Patty and Les.  Following cremation, A Memorial Service will be held on Thursday, November 1, 2007 at 1:30 p.m. in the W.J.Jones & Son Funeral Chapel, 106 Athabasca St. E., Moose Jaw. Reverend Keith Gonyou will officiate. Interment will follow at Rosedale Cemetery.  For those so wishing, memorials may be made to Moose Jaw Alliance Church Missionary Fund, Box 353, Moose Jaw, S6H 4N9. Sam spent his life in dedication and service to God.  He will be sorely missed by all those who respected and deeply loved him. In living memory of Sam, a tree will be planted in Besant Park by W.J.Jones & Son Funeral Home.
