DORLAND GERALD "JERRY" DOMMER 

Dorland Gerald “Jerry” Dommer passed away peacefully at Moose Jaw Union Hospital on October 27, 2007, at the age of 78. Jerry was born March 18, 1929 in Vantage, Saskatchewan. After growing up in the Expanse District, Jerry moved to Moose Jaw in 1948 and began articling with McCartney Accounting. In 1951 Jerry married Phyllis Paulson. In 1957 Jerry began his long career with Canaday's Apparel, first as a bookkeeper and eventually becoming a part-owner. Although he retired in 1992 he continued to work at Canaday's as a consultant. Jerry celebrated 50 years of service with Canaday's this past summer. Throughout Jerry's Life he was involved with Kinsmen and K-40. An important part of his life was spending time with family. Jerry and Phyl also cherished the friendships they developed throughout their lifetime, especially those in the Moose Jaw community. Jerry will be deeply missed as a loving father, grandfather, brother, and a friend. Jerry was predeceased by his wife Phyl in 2006, daughter Danette in 1959, his parents Mathew and Dorothy. He is survived by his children: Darcy (Gloria) and Sonja (Maggie); his sisters Denise (Wally) Blaisdell, Linda (Dennis) Kerr; his sisters-in-law Delia Busse and Alice (Dave) Guenther; special friends Harry and Fran Lohr; as well as nieces and nephews and extended family. A celebration of Jerry's life will be held at W.J.Jones & Son Chapel on Saturday November 3, 2007 at 1:30 pm. Pastor Bill Thomson will officiate. Interment will take place at Sunset Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in Jerry's memory to Palliative Care (Home Care), c/o Moose Jaw Union Hospital, 455 Fairford St.E., S6H 1H3, would be appreciated.  In living memory of Jerry, a tree will be planted in Besant Park by W.J.Jones & Son Funeral Home.

I had planned to attend the service .....to represent the Kimball side of the family, as Byron put it.....but in helping my granddaughter and her children move from Assiniboia, we didn't arrive in Moose Jaw in time. Carl& Doris Hanson, Saskatoon SK: Denise, Wally & all the Dommer family. As old friends- will always remember the time Ted. Mcdowell, Jerry & Carl sang Sunbonett Sally and Overall Jim at one of the school Xmas concerts in Expanse. We had a rousing applause. Our thoughts are with you at this difficult & caring time Jerry & Phyllis are now back together in God's hands forever.

Marion -George Parr - Coquitlam, BC: We were soory to hear of Jerry's passing away.  I worked very close with Jerry for 13 years at CanaDay's, before we moved to Ontario, he was a friend as well as a boss.  We were back in Moose Jaw a couple of years ago and George and I met Jerry for coffee and he brought along a lot of pictures of his family to show us. It was nice to talk about old times at work and remember so many friends and co workers. One of them being Linda who worked for me one summer. Our Condolances to all the family, you had a Great Dad and Brother.  Jerry rest in peace with Phyllis and Danette
