JOHN DOCHERTY 

The family of John Richard Docherty announces his passing on November 10, 2007. John was born in Moose Jaw but spent most of his working life as an electronics engineer in various locations in Canada, the United States and Asia . Early in his career he was employed by the CBC Toronto as supervisor for the installation and operation of television studio and mobile equipment. He was also responsible for the installation and maintenance of equipment for a satellite tracking station in Newfoundland, and for a major Royal Canadian Navy installation. John also spent several years in the Philippines as chief installation engineer with ITT in a communication and navigational aid project at the Manila International Airport.  In his retirement years he continued his education at the University of Regina and proctored University extension classes. John is survived by a son and daughter and their families in Winnipeg, a sister Leith Knight of Moose Jaw, and numerous cousins in Canada and the United States. A graveside service will be conducted by the Reverend John Carley of Minto United Church at a later date when the cremated remains will be interred in the family plot at Rosedale Cemetery.  Memorial donations in John's name may be made to Wakamow Valley Authority, Box 1266, Moose Jaw S6H 4P9. In living memory of John, a tree will be planted in Besant Park by W.J.Jones & Son Funeral Home.
