LETITIA "Tish" COATES

LETITIA “TISH” RUTH COATES (nee: Gibson) of Pioneer Lodge passed away Sunday, August 5, 2007 at the age of 92 years. Born in Wilburforce, Ontario December 22, 1914, she came west with her parents in 1917 to Eskbank, Saskatchewan where they operated a store. Tish grew up in Eskbank and received most of her education there. She spent a year in Toronto, Ontario to further her education. In 1934 she returned to Saskatchewan and attended Normal School.  After receiving her teacher’s certificate, Tish taught school at Mankota, Brandview and Keelerville. She married Herbert D. Coates of Keeler in 1937 where they farmed and raised their family.  Tish took an active part in the Keeler community and was a member of Keeler United Church UCW.  Tish retired to Moose Jaw in 1980 where she became involved with Minto United Church, curling, golf and bridge.  Many winters were spent in Arizona, USA.. Predeceased by her parents, Lemuel and Harriet Gibson, her husband, Herbert Coates and son-in-law, Joe Templeton, Tish is survived by her son, Garry (Carol), daughter, Valerie Templeton; grandsons: Corey and Jeremy Coates, sister, Eileen (Arnold) Torgerson, special companion, Gerald Tilley, as well as many nieces and nephews. The family would like to thank the staff at Pioneer Lodge for the care and compassion Tish received while residing there. A Service of Remembrance will be held at the W.J.Jones & Son Funeral Chapel, 106 Athabasca St. E., Moose Jaw on Monday, August 13, 2007 at 1:30 p.m. Gary Johnson will officiate. Memorials to Pioneer Lodge, 1000 Albert Street, Moose Jaw, S6H 2Y2 would be appreciated. In living memory of Tish, a tree will be planted by W.J.Jones & Son Funeral Home.

Debbie Pottruff - Moose Jaw, Sask.:Just heard the news about Tish very sorry that I was unable to attend her funeral. She was a great person, someone I could always joke with. She will be sadly missed by me, I didn't see her often but she always took the time to say hello. My prayer's are with all her family.
