Laura - Shreveport, Louisiana:  Jerry and I were inseparable when I was a little girl. He always took me for motorcycle rides on his motorcycles when Mom put the other children down for their naps. He had a blue one...then he would show up with a red motorcycle. We laughed out loud when he drove fast. I hung on tightly. He wanted me to be safe, but have fun. Then, we would stop to feed the wild animals at the Wild Animal Park in Moose Jaw. He especially liked the monkeys. We had such fun feeding them candy: green spearmint and orange marshmallow peanut candy. The kind you can buy in Canada. He liked to tease the monkeys, make them stick their hands out of the cages and make me scared, then he would make me laugh. I will never forget his artistic talent. He could make anything out of anything. Or something out of what we may seem was nothing. He could make use out of bottle caps, and sticks....something beautiful, something of form...I still have two small tables he made out of wood, a leather wallet, and belt. I was always totally blown away by his ability to work with his hands. He was my best cousin, and taught me alot about life while I asked him questions while we visited. He sounded good this past week when I talked to him. I let him know that he needed to take care of his health. The last thing I told him was that I loved him. And I am so glad I did. May he rest in peace in the arms of his Maker.......

Doreen W...We will miss you Jerry it was always interesting to talk with you on the busses and I have missed seeing you  You were a great gardener and kind to all the stray cats in your street .Rest in peace my friend ...

Norma Anne Bruse Power - Edmonton, AB: Jerry was 16 when I was born. Most of my memories of him are when he was an older teenager and young adult. I remember that he used to take us for car rides (we were his first cousins and there was 5 of us at that time). He liked to drive us down the steep hill by the Wild Animal Park and around South Hill. He liked to go fast and sometimes I got scared. I thought he was cool. When I got older it seemed like he was away a lot. I thought he had an exciting life working with the exhibitions and traveling to far away places. One time my mom put up some of his friends overnight - they seemed exotic. Jerry's wedding to Janice and birth of his son Jeffery were exciting memories for me. Over the years I lost touch with Jerry, but visited him from time to time. Jerry liked to talk and tell stories. I found that interesting because his stories were colorful at times. Several times Jerry asked me to help him find information (I am a librarian). Once he asked me to help him find information on how to build a foundry. Jerry was independent and industrious. Not only did he want to build a foundry, but he grew tobacco plants, made wine and once sold bulk soap wholesale. I am thankful for the memories I have of Jerry. I am sad about his passing. My condolences go out to you Jeff, Allison and family - may God Bless you and keep you.

Jane Bruse, First Cousin - Saskatoon, SK: I grew up with Jerry. He was like my dad's (John Bruse) younger brother. My grandmother and grandfather (George and Anna Bruse) raised him in Moose Jaw after his mother contracted tuberculosis in Ontario and couldn't care for him. I remember Jerry as a fun-loving cousin. He was always full of spunk, often teasing and scaring me. One time when I was small he put a sheet over himself and pretended he was a ghost to scare me. As a teenager he regularly came to our home to take me and my siblings for rides in his convertible. That was always fun and exciting! He often bought us candy and gifts. A really neat gift he gave me when I was a kid was a paint-by-number kit. I found Jerry to be very creative. He was always making things and coming up with great ideas for inventions. When he was young I remember he made an awesome poster from various chocolate bar wrappers. He made door mats from bottle caps, and various other interesting things. When visiting my mom (Louise Bruse) in Moose Jaw I would call on Jerry at his home. I will surely miss him and all his stories and memories.

Delia - Vancouver, BC: Jerry was a teenager when I was young. When I was little I thought he was so cool. My fondest memories of him are of the great visits I had at his home. He lived near my girlfriend’s house. After I moved away, I always visited with him when I came home to Moose Jaw to see my mom. I thought he was great. I am sorry he died so young. I remember when I saw him last. I visited him with my sister Laura and my daughter Ava. Laura took lots of photos of that visit and I am glad I have those photos as a memory of him.

Clara Bruse - Calgary, AB: I remember Jerry's van with suede on the das, a "hippy van".  Jerry and Janice would come and visit us at my mom's house quite often.  As an adult, I visited Jerry every Christmas when I came home to Moose Jaw.  One time he wanted me to play the organ for him so he could have a recording of it.  Jerry was a great conversationalist, he liked to talk about life events and people.  He was always interested in our lives! I am glad I had a chance to know him in his later years on a personal level.

Heather Johnson - Moose Jaw, Sask.: Our sincere sympathy to Jeff, Alison, Ceanna, and Cassidy on the passing of your father, father-in-law, grandfather.  Our thoughts and prayers are with you all.
Heather, Kera, and Violet
