BOB BAKER

MR. ROBERT “BOB” BAKER of Moose Jaw, passed away suddenly at home on Tuesday, February 6, 2007. Bob was very active in the community.  He was a member and director of the Moose Jaw Exhibition Company, serving as president on two different occasions for a total of six years.  He served as chairman and entertainment buyer for the Hometown Fair, chairman of Hometown and Golden Mile Rodeo committees, was a member and chairman of the Organization and Planning committee, served on Focus on Trade committee, Operations and Facilities committee, assisted with Saskatchewan Burrowing Owl Centre and was Show Manager for the Miniature Horse Show Association.  Bob was also a committee member of Murals of Moose Jaw, and served on the Saskatchewan Air Show and Parks and Recreation advisory boards.  He assisted with Canada Day, Festival of Words, Prairie Arts Festival, and the City’s Centennial celebrations. Bob was on the executive of Western Canada Fairs Association, serving as the Saskatchewan executive director, and past director of the Saskatchewan Association of Agriculture Societies. He was also a member of Demolay, as well as the Masonic Lodge. Predeceased by his parents, Percy and Faye and a sister, Pat, Bob is survived by his brother, Jim Baker, a nephew, William Baker, and sister-in-law, Ellen Baker. Following cremation, A Service of Remembrance will be held on Saturday, February 17, 2007 at 1:30 p.m. in the W.J.Jones & Son Funeral Chapel, 106 Athabasca St. E., Moose Jaw. Reverend Frank Mitchell will officiate. Memorialization will take place at Moose Jaw Cemetery. For those so wishing, memorial donations may be made to the Canadian Diabetes Association, 104 – 2301 Ave. C. North, Saskatoon, S7L 5Z5 or to the Saskatchewan Heart & Stroke Foundation, 2360 2nd Ave., Regina, S4R 1A6. In living memory of Robert, a tree has been planted in Wakamow Valley by W.J.Jones & Son Funeral Home.
