HELEN ANDERSON

(Video Tribute)

HELEN ANDERSON (nee: McIntyre) born August 15, 1916, passed away peacefully in Moose Jaw Union Hospital on August 12, 2007.  Predeceased by her husband, Albert (Bert) Anderson, her brother, Horace (Mac) McIntyre; sisters: Arlene (Lawrence) Henderson and Jean (Bob) Anderson. Helen is survived by her children: Lynn (Ted) Jest of Vancouver, BC, Mac (Lori) Anderson of Moose Jaw and her two granddaughters: Christa (Aaron) Vassie of Okotoks, AB, and Sarah Anderson of Moose Jaw.  Upon graduation from Central Collegiate, Helen continued her studies at the Normal School (now SIAST) where she was also employed for many years.  Helen and Bert were married in 1942; Helen always spoke fondly of their time together in the Queen Charlotte Islands before Bert returned overseas as a Canloan Officer. She held dear to her heart her childhood friends whom she remained in contact with throughout her 90 years.  Having lived on 7th Avenue N.W. for 58 years, she touched the lives of many neighbours and carried on that neighbourly tradition with constant visits from her grandchildren and their friends. Helen was a member of the Moose Jaw Public Library since 1929 and read thousands of books. Her brilliant mind and wisdom remained with her right up to the time of her passing.  A Celebration of Helen's life will be held on Thursday, August 16, 2007 at 3:30 p.m. in the W.J.Jones & Son Funeral Chapel, 106 Athabasca St. E., Moose Jaw. Della Ferguson will be the celebrant. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations to the Moose Jaw Public Library, 461 Langdon Crescent, Moose Jaw, S6H 0X6 would be greatly appreciated. In living memory of Helen, a tree will be planted by W.J.Jones & Son Funeral Home.
