Lorne
Kenneth Dryden Dokken of
Moose Jaw
passed away peacefully at home on Friday, May 19, 2006 after a
very courageous battle with Muscular Dystrophy. Lorne was born in Edmonton, November 16, 1957, the fifth of eight children of John and June
Dokken. For most of
his adult life Lorne was employed as a corrections officer at the
Federal Penitentiary in
Edmonton
, retiring from the Public Service and moving to Moose Jaw
in 2001. Lorne was a
family first type of man, and truly enjoyed family get-togethers
– playing cards, reminiscing, enjoying a good meal in the
company of his loved ones, and he was never shy about stating his
“always correct” political views. Television sportscasts were a favourite pastime of Lorne
and he was especially thrilled at the success the Edmonton Oilers
are enjoying in the present NHL playoffs.
Lorne leaves to mourn his two very precious daughters, Michelle and Amanda; brothers Glenn (Gordana) and Ward (Brenda)
Dokken, sisters Dianne (Marlow) Lisell, Susan Dokken (Robin
Rogowski), several nieces and nephews, and lifelong friend Larry
Hack. Lorne is
predeceased by his parents John (1995) and June (2004), brothers
Earl David (1965), Dean (1981), and Wayne (2005). A private family memorial service will be held at a later
date. Donations in
memory of Lorne to Muscular Dystrophy Canada, 2345 Yonge St., Suite 900,
Toronto,
ON,
M4P 2E5, will be very much appreciated by the family. In living
memory of Lorne, a tree will be planted in Wakamow
Valley
by W.J.Jones & Son Funeral Home.
