John
Kenneth "Ken" Craik

Hospital
on

with family at his side. Born in
Moose Jaw
on
October 10, 1922
to John and Hilda Craik, Ken grew up on the family farm and
received his education at Cobourg
School, Central Collegiate and graduated from the
University
of
Saskatchewan
in Saskatoon. Predeceased by his wife, Lu; two brothers, David and Murray;
sister, Marjorie; and nephew, David Craik. Ken is survived by his
children: Bryon (Kathy), Brock (Sheri), and Joan (Dillon) Boyle;
his grandchildren, Chey (Cori), Jesse (Sherry), Lori (Jay), Jon,
Ashley, Sarah and his seven great-grandchildren. Ken is also
remembered by his brother Doug (Mary) Craik, sisters-in-law
Dorothy Craik and Mona (Earl) Code, brother-in-law Don Preston and
many nieces and nephews. Ken joined the Royal Canadian Air Force in 1941 and served
as a pilot overseas in World War II. When the war ended, Ken
returned to Moose Jaw
and farmed in the Eyebrow and Cobourg District. He held his
private pilot's license and enjoyed taking his family and friends
on flying excursions. Ken fondly recalled his fly-over Craik
Island
on Black
Bear
Lake
named after his brother, Sargeant David Craik who was killed
overseas while serving with the RCAf in 1941.
Ken and Lu enjoyed numerous vacations and 26 winters in
their Arizona
home enjoying the "good life". Grandpa treated all his
family to many Christmas vacations in the south and we treasure
the wonderful memories of the fun he planned for us on mountain
hikes, picnics, trips to Disneyland, Las Vegas
and more. Grandpa was always full of adventure and attempted hang
gliding when he was 56 years old. He was an avid reader, enjoyed
sports, hiking, and his home at the Mulberry Estates for the last
3½ years. A time to
celebrate Ken’s life will be held on
Saturday, January 6, 2007
