VIOLET CHURA

Violet Mildred Chura (Edwards) passed away peacefully in Moose Jaw Union Hospital on Friday December 29, with her family by her bedside. Violet met Gene, who was already in the military, in Saskatoon and they were married in 1940. Following the War, they were transferred to Moose Jaw where they settled to raise their family and build their home. While Gene was employed as a Commercial Sales Rep for a Fruit Wholesale House, and away several days a week, Vi managed and successfully operated a family Grocery and Confectionary Store.  Mom was a loving and caring wife, mother, grandmother and great-grandmother, always putting her family’s needs ahead of her own.  Vi is predeceased by her brothers Jim and Leonard, a sister Dorothy and an infant daughter Sherry Dawn in 1946. She is survived by her husband of sixty-six years, Gene; her son, Leonard (Jeannette) and daughter, Debbie; grandson, Jeffrey (Ellen) and granddaughter Jennifer (Ken) Marcicki; and two great-granddaughters, Taylor and Chantal. A Service of Remembrance will be held at the Church of Our Lady, 566 Vaughan Street, on Wednesday January 3, 2007 at 1:30 pm. Reverend Father Michael Conteh will be the celebrant. Memorialization will take place at Rosedale Cemetery. Memorials to the Sask. Heart & Stroke Association, 2360 2nd Ave, Regina, S4R 1A6, would be appreciated.  In living memory of Violet, a tree has been planted in Wakamow Valley by W.J.Jones & Son Funeral Home.
