BEULAH CALVERT (nee Phillips)

At the age of 83, Beulah Calvert, with family at her side, peacefully entered God’s care on Sunday, August 27, 2006. Born on the Saskatchewan prairie at Aylesbury, Beulah grew up there with her brother and sister through the 1930’s. Family, prairie and the Great Depression taught her the importance of caring for others and gave her a life-long appreciation and joy for the simple things of life – her home, her small treasures, her friends, her faith, her family and their pursuits in life.  She was ever “heart in hand and feet on ground”.  For fifty-five years she made her home, and home for family and friends, on Iroquois Street West in Moose Jaw.  For times she worked outside the home as legal secretary for John Chisholm and with the Fergusons and Baillies at Ferguson Printing. She had two ongoing memberships in her life – in Trinity United Church and in the Saskatchewan New Democratic Party. She knew the loss of her husband, Ab in 1982 and the loss of many others in her circle of family and friends. Today she is remembered with thanks and love by her son and daughter, Lorne and Betty Calvert, her grandchildren, Dave (Robyn) and Stephanie, her great-grandchildren Levi and Haven, her sister Doreen Hender, sisters-in-law Margaret Calvert and Dorothy Calvert, many nieces and nephews and their families and close and caring friends. The Calvert family is deeply grateful to those friends whose regular visits and conversations have brought such joy over these past several years, to the doctors and medical teams of the Regina Pasqua and Moose Jaw Union hospitals, to the Owens and Meyers and the exceptional group of caring people at Memory Lane in Pioneer Lodge over the past few weeks. Following a private family service of thanksgiving, those wishing to join the Calverts in remembering and celebrating Beulah’s life are invited to a reception in Zion United Church, 423 Main St. N., Moose Jaw 2:30 – 4:30p.m. on Thursday, August 31.  In lieu of flowers, the family sincerely requests that memorial donations be made to Trinity United Church, 277 Iroquois St. W., Moose Jaw. In living memory of Beulah, a tree will be planted in Wakamow Valley by W.J.Jones & Son Funeral Home.
