ELLA BENSON

July 8, 1938 February 6, 2006

It is with deep sadness that the family of Ella D. Benson (Usher, Cronk) announces that on February 6, 2006, she lost her battle with cancer. The family takes comfort in the fact that she is now with her Lord and Savior and free from the pain. Ella was born in Central Butte on July 8, 1938. She moved to Moose Jaw as a child in 1948 and it was here she later met and married Thomas Usher. Together they had five children. Ella later married second husband James Benson. She enjoyed embroidering, cooking and bowling as well as spending time with her family.  Predeceased by her parents, Leigh (1957) and Thelma (1985), second husband, James Benson (1987), her brother, Leonard Cronk (1985) and her sister, Ruby Bridges (2003), Ella is survived by her five children: Cliff Usher, Carol (Ian) Usher-Dunn, Dianna (Les) Usher-Henry, Bradley (Barb) – all of Moose Jaw and John (Vivian) of Saskatoon; two sisters: Maryenn Olson of Kamloops, B.C. and Vera Porter of Guelph, Ont., brother, David Cronk of Kamloops, B.C., as well as her former husband and friend, Thomas Usher. Ella has sixteen grandchildren, three great-grandchildren, as well as several nieces and nephews.  In keeping with Ella’s request, there will be no funeral service. A private family graveside service will take place. In lieu of flowers, Ella requested that memorial donations be directed to the Canadian Cancer Society, 61B Ross St. W., Moose Jaw, S6H 2M2. In living memory of Ella, a tree will be planted in Wakamow Valley by W.J.Jones & Son Funeral Home.
