KENNETH BECHTOLD

Family of Kenneth Victor Bechtold are sad to announce the passing of a fantastic brother, uncle, and friend who lost his battle to cancer on April 29, 2006. Ken was born in Moose Jaw September 23, 1942.  He started work at Army & Navy department store when he was sixteen years old and worked there for forty-two years until closing in 1999.  He talked fondly of all his co-workers and the Army & Navy family.  Ken was one of the first members of the Moose Jaw Junior Boy’s Choir under the tutelage of Miss McCallum. His favorite past times were gardening, camping, bowling and being with his beloved dogs, especially Chelsea in later years.  Ken was predeceased by his father John - born in Millbank, South Dakota, mother Otiilie - born in Radon, Poland, infant sister Karoline, sister Audrey and her husband Sid Gilhen of Winnipeg, brother-in-law Paul King of Winnipeg and niece Carolin Skowron of Winnipeg.  Ken is survived by Walter (Gert) of Nanaimo, BC, Ozzie (Anne) of Calgary, Irma King of Winnipeg, Ruth (Gord Wills) of Regina, Roger (Bonnie) of Regina, Mike (Renee) of Moose Jaw. He will be sadly missed by twenty-two nieces and nephews, as well as numerous aunts, uncles, cousins, great-nieces and great-nephews. The family would like to thank all of the Doctors, Nurses and their staff for their care and consultations. A Celebration of Ken’s life will be held on Friday, May 5, 2006 at 1:30 p.m. in the W.J.Jones & Son Funeral Chapel, 106 Athabasca St. E., Moose Jaw. John Bechtold will officiate. Interment will take place in Ken’s mothers grave at Rosedale Cemetery. Flowers are gratefully declined. For those so wishing, memorial donations may be made to the Canadian Cancer Society, 61B Ross St. W., Moose Jaw, S6H 2M2. In living memory of Ken, a tree will be planted in Wakamow Valley by W.J.Jones & Son Funeral Home.

Della Ferguson - Moose Jaw, SK: I had the privilege of working with Ken at the Army and Navy Store 1979,1980 as a teen.  I can still hear his voice and his laughter.  He was such a loyal employee!  I hope that you will forever remember the joy he brought into your lives and know that he touched many hearts as he served with the A & N...customers and co-workers alike.  Peace be with you.
