ERIC JOHN ALLEN

On March 8, 2006, Mr. Eric Allen passed away suddenly, shortly after his 78th birthday. Until retirement, Eric was employed at Pioneer Grain in Winnipeg. Despite his handicap, Eric enjoyed carpentry work and as a young man, he was an exceptional pool player. Eric took great pleasure in driving his car and on weekends enjoyed attending garage sales. For the last 21 years, Eric struggled with emphysema. He was a very independent man who valued the support of his family and loved ones, especially his brother Roy, who aided him without hesitation in his times of need. Eric’s zest for life and sheer determination to face each day set an example for all who met him. In July 2005, Eric moved from Winnipeg to Moose Jaw to be closer to Sheila Morris, who he considered a daughter, and his granddaughter Tammy Morris. Eric will be sadly missed by his brothers: Roy (Melba) of Winnipeg, Don (Dawn) of Belleville, ON; and his sister Doreen Graham (Herb) of Renton, Washington; as well as nieces Shanley Anglin (James), Sarah Bercier (Marc), and nephew Dale Allen (Janice); and many friends in many places. At the request of the deceased, there will be no funeral service.  Cremation will take place with memorialization to follow at a later date. The family wishes to thank the Union Hospital Emergency staff for their caring and assistance.  A special thank you to Dr. VanZyl, who Eric considered not just a Doctor, but a friend.  In lieu of flowers, memorials to a charity of your choice would be appreciated.  In living memory of Eric, a tree will be planted in Wakamow Valley by W.J.Jones & Son Funeral Home.

Julie Kuchinka - Moose Jaw, SK: Sheila & Tammy:  I am very sorry to hear of Eric's passing.  I always enjoyed my visits with him.  He always spoke very highly of both of you and cared for you a lot.  Thinking of you at this sad time.  God Bless.

Dale and Janice Allen - Kingston, Ontario: My Uncle took what life had to offer and stood a free and independent man. As your nephew, I remember driving around Winnipeg as a little boy in the back of your station wagon trying to stay upright as you were spinning around corners. We laughed and laughed as kids do when really having fun. Most note worthy was your deep friendship and love for my Dad. He lost a brother and true friend. Rest in peace Uncle, you are are missed.

Dani Carle - Moose Jaw, Sk.: Sheila and Tammy, my deepest condolences on the loss of your beloved family member.

Bev and David Ray - Lamont, AB: Sheila, Tammy our 'family' will never be the same without Eric! He was part of our lives for a long time!! I have memories too numerous to mention! I will always think of the two of you as Earth Angels, as your role in the lives of your friends is just that! Angelic at best! I know how much you meant to Eric, how high he always held your esteem! I will miss him too. Know that I am thinking of you ALWAYS!
