VERA BULLIED

With great sadness, we announce the passing of our beloved mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, sister and aunt, Vera Eileen Bullied (nee Fysh). Born in 1917, Vera was raised in the Crestwynd district where, along with five brothers and sisters, she attended Wyndcrest School .  In 1942, she married Jarvis Bullied and together they farmed and raised a family of nine children.  Vera was a hard working farm wife, homemaker and mother, active in the Crestwynd community until moving to Moose Jaw .  Her passion and talent for baking, gardening, and handcrafts was apparent to both friends and family alike.  She was a generous hostess and always welcomed people into her home with the utmost of hospitality.  After the death of her husband, her pioneering spirit and love of the farmlife led her back to the original homestead where she lived until retiring to Moose Jaw in 1995. Vera was predeceased by her parents, Charles and Eileen Fysh, her husband, Jarvis, and her sister, Patricia Crosbie.  Her generosity, kindness, patience, and determined spirit will always be appreciated and forever missed by her sons: Larry, Ken (Carol), Rich (Dorothy), Bob (Ruth), Harold and Travis; her daughters: Janet, Teresa McLeod (Marsh), and Marg Van Alstine (Greg); her brothers: Cliff (Bernetta), Cyril (Thelma), Barry (Maida) and her twin sister, Gwen Carter.  She is survived by twelve grandchildren: Shawna, Tracey, Shannon, Lane, Kimberly, Deborah, Nicole, Christa, Lisa, Tyler, Russell and Erin; fifteen great-grandchildren and numerous nieces and nephews.  She is an example of a life filled with love, creativity, hard work and family.  We extend sincere thanks and appreciation to Vera’s many homecare workers, whom she looked forward to seeing and considered friends.  We thank Dr. Ramadan for his special care and sense of humor; Dr. Van Zyl for his attention and care; all the residents of Regal Villa for their friendship and concern for Vera; and the Moose Jaw Union Hospital Nursing Staff and Workers.  A Celebration of Vera’s Life will be held on Friday, August 19, 2005 at 3:30 p.m. in the W. J. Jones & Son Funeral Chapel.  Pastor Henry Murray will officiate.  Memorialization will follow at Rosedale Cemetery .  For those so wishing, memorials may be made to the Canadian National Institute for the Blind, 2550 Broad Street, Regina, Sask., S4P 9Z9. In living memory of Vera, a tree will be planted in Wakamow Valley by W. J. Jones & Son Funeral Home.
