JOHN BABICH

It is with great sadness that the family announce the passing of John Babich of Chateau St. Michael, Moose Jaw. John died peacefully August 26, 2005 at the age of 87 years, after a short battle with cancer.  He was predeceased by his parents Anna and Alex Babich, son Brent, and brother Steve Babich.  John is survived by his wife of 59 years, Margaret – Pioneer Lodge;  children: Sandra (Jim) Russell – Saskatoon, Randy (Brenda) – Moose Jaw, Marla (Tom) – Moose Jaw, Bette Jayne (Stephen) Pope – Regina; grandchildren:  Shauna, Laurie, Natasha (Chad), Nathan, Jayson, Laura, Stephanie; and great-grandchildren, Matthew and Kendall;  sisters:  Mary (George) Johnson – Toronto, and Olga Chomiak – Winnipeg;  Margaret's numerous nieces, sisters, brothers, nephews and cousins. John was a long time employee of the CPR, retiring in 1979 after 44 years. He was a member of the Army, Navy and Airforce Veterans #252. John enjoyed carpentry, model railroading, fishing, boating, bowling, gardening, helping with harvest, dancing; was a daily walker, and an avid record collector and music lover. He will be missed by all his relatives and friends. The Funeral Service will be held at W.J.Jones & Son Chapel on Tuesday August 30, 2005 at 3:30 pm. Linda Owens will officiate. Interment will follow at Sunset Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, memorials to the Canadian Cancer Society, 61B Ross St.W., Moose Jaw, S6H 2M2, or the Moose Jaw Health Foundation, 455 Fairford St.E., Moose Jaw, S6H 1H3, would be appreciated.  In living memory of John, a tree will be planted in Wakamow Valley by W.J.Jones & Son Funeral Home.
