DOROTHY MORINE

DOROTHY ROSALIE MORINE (nee Lane) of Moose Jaw passed away peacefully Thursday, May 20, 2004 at the Moose Jaw Union Hospital at the age of 78, after a short battle with cancer. Dorothy was born at Weyburn, Sask. as the youngest of six children to George and Bessie Lane. Growing up on a farm north of Weyburn led to attending rural schools.  After the war she moved with her mom and her brother David to Regina. She furthered her education at Reliance Business College in Regina.  After graduation she began working for the government of Saskatchewan at the Provincial Lab. In 1948 she married Ken Morine.  Her work career continued until 1954 when she began raising a family.  She returned to the work force and worked in the Order Review Department at Sears catalogue centre.  In 1974 Dorothy and Ken moved to Estevan where Dorothy worked as a dental receptionist for Dr. Blue until she retired. In 1999 they sold their house in Estevan and moved to their condominium in Moose Jaw. Together Dorothy and Ken enjoyed doing many activities. Dorothy spent many years excelling as a five-pin bowler in Regina. Dorothy and Ken continued to enjoy ten-pin bowling in Estevan.  They had a passion for dancing and took up round and square dancing.  This led to meeting many new friends and associates and had them travelling to many locations for dancing activities.  After Ken retired Dorothy learned to golf and they joined the Crosby Golf and Country Club where they spent many summer days enjoying themselves on the golf course. Some of Dorothy’s leisure time activities included reading, walking, knitting and playing cards.  After moving to Moose Jaw she occupied some of her free time volunteering for various organizations. Dorothy always maintained her strong love for family, son Glen, wife Lynn and children Laura and Stephen; daughter Janet, husband Jim and children Trevor, Krista and Roselee and six great grandchildren -Ryan, Ryder, Brittany, Rain, Duncan and Alexander. Dorothy and Ken were married for 53 years until his passing in 2002. Predeceased by her husband, Ken, her parents, George and Bessie Lane and three brothers, Dorothy is survived by her son, Glen (Lynn) of Moose Jaw, daughter, Janet (Jim) Hoff of Glenavon; five grandchildren and six great-grandchildren, one brother, David (Gladys) Lane of Langley, B.C. and one sister, Ellen (Allan) Gray of Weyburn as well as numerous nieces and nephews. A Service of Remembrance will be conducted on Tuesday, May 25, 2004 at 1:30 p.m. at Emmanuel Lutheran Church, Moose Jaw.  Reverend John Kreutzwieser will officiate.  Cremation has taken place with memorialization at Rosedale Cemetery.  Memorials to the Canadian Cancer Society, 61B Ross St. W., Moose Jaw, S6H 2M2 would be appreciated.
