KENT FANCOURT

It is with great sadness that the family of KENT PRESTON FANCOURT of Moose Jaw announces his passing.  Kent passed away suddenly in a hunting accident on Monday, November 8, 2004.  Born July 29, 1966 in Victoria, B.C. Kent was a long time employee of M & T Feedlot after graduating from the University of Saskatchewan with a Bachelor of Science in Agriculture in 1989. The cattle business was very important to him.  Kent was goalie for the Park Hotel Bullets in the Moose Jaw Men’s Recreational Hockey League. He enjoyed time with the team at the Park after the games. Kent was a virtual encyclopedia of sports stats – if you wanted to know who drafted to which team and when, he could tell you!  Golfing in the yearly hockey wind-up party was also an adventure.  Predeceased by his grandparents, Jim and Jean Fancourt of Glentworth, Charlie and Agnes Rycroft of Kincaid, an uncle, Charlie Fancourt and aunt, Linda Sabo. Kent is survived by his wife, Stephanie and their new baby son, Ryan; his dad, Bill (Mae), mom, Dianne Rycroft; two sisters: Heather and children: Crystal, Duncan & Marina; and Leanne; his brother, Paul; mother and father-in-law, Bryan and Glenda Hagerty; two sisters-in-law: Jackie (Jim) Beattie and their children: Jarred & Jordan; and Amy (Cody) Greenwood, an aunt, Nettie Thomas and cousin, Dave Thomas; his special mom and dad, Merlin and Sharon Thompson, as well as all the people in the cattle business and all of his hockey buddies.   Kent will be missed by all, especially his faithful four-legged friend, Meggie. The Funeral Service will be held on Saturday, November 13, 2004 at 1:30 p.m. at the Alliance Church, (corner of 9th Ave. & Thatcher Dr.), Moose Jaw.  Della Ferguson will officiate. Interment will follow at Rosedale Cemetery.  In living memory of Kent, a tree will be planted in Wakamow Valley by W.J.Jones & Son Funeral Home.

John Bell - Moose Jaw, SK:  I sit in disbelief writing this condolence.....we are all in shock and mourning for your loss....I knew Kent through hockey and through fellowship and he lived life to the fullest.  There will be some tough weeks and months ahead but with family and friends I know that you will get through...take care and take on day at a time......I have hockey tapes of Kent that some day you may want to copy....A Friend, John Bell & Family.

Tom Hansen - Moose Jaw, SK: I have known Kent for probably 10 years or more.  He has helped us out at JGL on occasion.  I got to know Kent some when we traveled together to a golf tournament in Edmonton a few years ago.  I enjoyed travelling with Kent.  He had a great sense of humour.  He was always friendly and never condescending.  I remember he got a little hyper at times, especially dealing with stubborn cattle in the alley.  We used to hear him above all the cattle and the other guys on the inside speakerphone.  He would always come to visit us and his faithful dog would come with him and sit in the car.  Recently, he bore a wound from his pet who bit him on the nose, but Kent wasn't too bothered.  I will miss Kent.  I shared his love for hockey.  He played with us cattle guys a few times too.  My condolences to Stephanie and Ryan, as well as father Bill, along with the rest of the family.  May your hearts be comforted.

Joe Axon - Swift Current, SK: What a sad loss, especially for his family.  I knew Kent for about 10 years, having played on the bullets in 1995 to 97 with him.  I still remember his first game with the team.  I often had enjoyable discussions with Kent about his wealth of sports knowledge.  May Jesus be with you at this time.

I went to school with Kent and also graduated with him in the same Class from the U of S. A good man is gone and my thoughts are with his family.
