Phillip
Lockhart Brooks, of
Moose
Jaw,
passed away on Tuesday,
June 8, 2004
at the age of 87. Phillip
was born on
March
18, 1917
in Aneroid, Sask.
He married Muriel Williams on January
3, 1942.
He served in the RCAF during World War II from 1941 to 1945
and was stationed in England
as a mechanic working on Lancaster
bombers. After the War
he and Muriel moved to Moose
Jaw
where he worked for the CPR for 35 years as a fireman and later as
an engineer. Phil
loved his family and had great fun at the many gatherings of his
extended family. He
was a cheerful, happy person with a big smile and an easy laugh.
He loved to make fun of anything silly that happened to him
if it would make others laugh with him.
He always made himself available to help his many friends
and family. Phil led
an active lifestyle and enjoyed swimming, golfing, biking,
cross-country skiing and walking until shortly before his death. He also enjoyed quiet time with music and reading.
His great love was traveling.
He and Muriel explored many parts of the world together.
Phil is predeceased by his wife Muriel in 2002; his
parents, Milton and Maud Brooks; his brothers, Hobart, Chap and
Joseph; his sisters, Miriam, Lucille, Monica and Harriet.
He is survived by his children: Robert Brooks (Holly Roy)
of N.Vancouver, BC and Beverley Brooks (Max Baldwin) of Moose
Jaw;
grandchildren: Daniel
Brooks, Colleen Baldwin (Aage André Weider), Graham Baldwin
(Nicole Pyett) and Teresa Baldwin; sister June Ruehs, sisters-in-law Gertie Green and Ethel
Brooks; several nieces and nephews.
A Celebration of Phil’s Life will be held at W.J.Jones
& Son Chapel on Saturday
June 12, 2004
at 10:30
am.
Della Ferguson will officiate. Memorialization will take place at Sunset
Cemetery. Memorials to the Sask. Heart & Stroke Foundation, 2360
2nd Ave.,
