Gertrude
(Gertie) Barber of
Pioneers Lodge, passed away on July 4, 2004
at the age
of 89. Gertie was born
and raised in the Camalachie district on April 13,
1915.
She married Bob on August 16,
1939
and they
lived in Moose Jaw
where they
raised two children, Dale and Marlene. Gertie worked at Eaton’s in the grocery dept. and later
in the men’s wear until her retirement.
She enjoyed playing cards with her family and friends.
She is predeceased by her husband Bob in 1997, her mother
Bertha, father William Edward, brother William (Esther), twin
brother Gerald (Edna), sister Dorothy, brothers-in-law Les, Jack,
Stout, and sisters-in-law Meg and Ev.
She will be sadly missed by: Dale (Kay), and Marlene (Don), six grandchildren: Carol (Ian), Janice
(Mike), Robbie, Don (Ange), Mike (Kay), Darren (Carrie); thirteen
special great-grandchildren: Jordan, Kevin, Bailey, Cori, Kyle,
Brianne, Taylor, Carson, Campbell, Layne, Jayden, Dawsyn, and
Kaedon; three
brothers-in-law, Hec (Ruby), Mac (Greta), Gord (Monica) and John;
two sisters-in-law, Isa Johnson and Agnes Barber, as well
as several nieces and nephews.
The Funeral Service will be held at W.J.Jones & Son
Funeral Chapel on Thursday July 8, 2004
at 1:30 pm. Reverend
Frank Mitchell will officiate. Interment will follow at Sunset
Cemetery. In living memory of Gertie, a
tree will be planted in Wakamow
Valley
by W.J.Jones & Son Funeral Home.
