BRUCE ALBERT

It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of Bruce Charles Albert on May 13, 2004 at the age of 83.  Bruce passed away peacefully with his family at his side.  He was born in Vancouver, BC on June 17, 1920. Following high school, he served in the Navy as a petty officer cook on different aircraft carriers. Upon his return, he continued his culinary pursuits in such locations as Vancouver, Australia, Kamloops, and finally settled in Moose Jaw. He initiated the Commercial Cooking course at SIAST in 1960.  His real pride was his ability to present food in a very artistic fashion.  After a successful career, he experienced 24 joyous years of retirement in his two favourite places, Sun City, Arizona and Buffalo Pound Lake.  Bruce took great pleasure in spending time with his children and grandchildren and following their achievements.  He was a long time member of the Hillcrest Sports Centre, the Shrine Club, the Royal Canadian Legion, and the Sun City North Golf Course.  Bruce is predeceased by his son, Bruce Jr. and leaves to mourn his loving wife of 49 years, Mary; daughter Diane (Walter) Pearson of Summerland, BC – children Randy and Bryan;  daughter Barb Currie of Saskatoon; son Mark (Kerry) of Moose Jaw – children Kyle, Michael and Alison; daughter Lynn (Kevin) Tendler of Viceroy, SK – children Jereme and Jade; son Paul (Kate) of Saskatoon – children Gregory and Mitchell; Bruce Jr.’s children Andrea, Craig and Blaine; and sister-in-law, Sister Beatrice Anne of Hamilton, ON.  The Funeral Service will be held at W.J.Jones & Son Chapel on Monday May 17, 2004 at 1:30 pm.  Pastor Bill Thomson will officiate. Royal Canadian Legion Funeral Rites will be conducted by Chuck MacMillan. Interment will follow at Rosedale Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, memorials to the Sask. Lung Association, 1231 8th St.E., Saskatoon, S7H 0S5, or the Canadian Diabetes Association, 104 – 2301 Ave. C. N., Saskatoon, S6L 5Z5, would be appreciated.  In living memory of Bruce, a tree will be planted in Wakamow Valley by W.J.Jones & Son Funeral Home.
