Mr. Ellis was born in Moose
Jaw,
Saskatchewan
on Feb.
25th, 1917.
His father Arthur John was a railroader, and his mother
Rosalie was a seamstress. Carl
had one brother, Roy Ellis. It was in Moose
Jaw
that Carl attended school, and later was employed by the CPR.
In 1939 Carl was awarded the Associate of the Toronto
School of Music diploma for piano as a solo performer.
His employment was interrupted by active service in the
Canadian Army between 1942 and 1946. In 1943 he was transferred
overseas and joined the Royal Canadian Engineers Corps Band as a
clarinetist and pianist, touring England
and the theaters of war in Italy
and northwest Europe.
Upon his return from overseas he married his fiancé Alice Wanlin.
In 1979 Carl ended a 40 year railroad career as a conductor. He is
predeceased by his loving wife Alice and his brother Roy. To mourn
his loss, he leaves his son John (Christine), daughter Mary Jane,
and two grandsons, Adrian and Mark Ellis. Funeral
Mass will be celebrated at the Church
of Our
Lady,
Moose
Jaw
on Thursday,
March 6, 2003
at 2p.m.
Reverend
Father Gerry Bauche will preside.
Memorialization
will take place at a later date.

will be planted in Wakamow
