ROSE CUNDALL

ROSE CUNDALL, beloved wife of Alfred Ian Cundall, passed away peacefully on Friday, May 9, 2003, at Avonlea Villa in Avonlea, Saskatchewan. Ian was at her side. She was 88 years of age. Rose is survived by her husband, Ian of Avonlea Villa; daughters: Larralyn (Dave) McKay of Kinmount, Ontario, and Ann Cundall of Milden, Saskatchewan.  She also leaves three grandchildren and four great-grandchildren.  Prior to her retirement, Rose was a registered nurse at the former Valley View Centre and later at Moose Jaw Union Hospital.  Rose was active as a leader with Girl Guides in Moose Jaw for a few years. Prior to moving to Avonlea Villa, she was a member of Cosmos Senior Citizens Centre.  Rose’s main pastime was dancing.  She and Ian spent many years spreading the “joy of dance” in Moose Jaw and surrounding area.  Rose and Ian called, cued and danced with several square dance clubs in and around Moose Jaw for several years. Rose cued round dancing for the Rose-ettes Round Dance Club, which was named after her by its original founding members. As well, Rose instructed ballroom dancing throughout the Moose Jaw district for many years, and she will be fondly remembered by many as “the lady who taught us to dance”.  In keeping with Rose’s request, no funeral service was held.  Private burial took place at Sunset Cemetery on Tuesday, May 13, 2003. In lieu of flowers, the family requests that those who wish to join in the celebration of Rose’s life may send donations in her memory to The Avonlea Villa Staff Fund, c/o Avonlea Villa, Box 239, Avonlea, Saskatchewan, S0H 0C0. This fund is organized by the staff for the purpose of projects and activities to benefit the residents of Avonlea Villa, where Ian continues to reside. In living memory of Rose, a tree will be planted in Wakamow Valley by W.J.Jones & Son Funeral Home.

Guest Book

Laura Stark - Pitt Meadows, B.C: I have many happy memories of the times our families spent together.  Sincerest condolences to Ian, Ann and Larralyn.  Laura & Mike Stark

Mary Nettleton Read - Kelowna, BC: Ann, the memories have come flooding back and they are such good ones.  Your family and ours were together so much that we must be almost related!  Our moms had such a great friendship that lasted for so many years.  From square and round dancing to camping, to parties and projects, jamborees and meetings to just spending time together, their lives were intertwined. And in later years they played a mean game of Scrabble while our dad's golfed.  Think how organized heaven will be now with BOTH of them there!

Trish Nettleton Ireland - Pilot Butte, Sask.: I too have many fond memories of the times our families spent together.  They're a cherished part of my childhood.  Our thoughts are with you.

Lillian Wadham - Moose Jaw, Sask.: My sincere sympathy to you all.  We spent many years as neighbors and had 3 big trips with Rose and Ian that I will remember always
