HAROLD CLARK

HAROLD GARFIELD CLARK left us peacefully, on Sunday, February 2, 2003 , at the Moose Jaw Union Hospital after a short illness.  Harold was born on September 14, 1905 in Owen Sound, Ontario. He moved to the Belle Plaine area with his parents in 1917.  Harold completed his high school education in Belle Plaine and when his family returned to Ontario in 1924, Harold, 19, went to Detroit, Michigan where he worked for the Dodge Motor Company.  Early in 1926 Harold went to Valparaisio, Indiana where he worked his way through telegraphy school.  After graduating he worked for six months for the Central Vermont Railroad, but when harvest time rolled around the lure of the west saw Harold catching a harvest excursion train in Montreal to return to Saskatchewan.  On January 1, 1930, he married Doris Whittleton at the Whittleton home south of Belle Plaine.  His love of the land and his passion for farming enriched his life, and at the time of his death, he remained an active farmer.  He left for his daughter Gail and his grandchildren, Clark, Stacey and Carla a wonderful legacy, his labor of love – his farm!  He was predeceased by his parents William and Maude Clark, sister Jean (Pring) and brother-in-law Ben Pring, brother Harry, his wife of 52 years Doris (Whittleton); sisters-in-law and brothers-in-law Jean and Jack Scott and Bill and Grace Whittleton.  He leaves to mourn, his wife Blanche Wilkie, daughter Gail (Ernie) Coulson; grandchildren Clark (Tara) Coulson and Katie, Stacey (Ward) Edwards and Jordan, Carla (Tom) Hamilton, Aidan and Mattea, as well as a special niece, Marcille (Jack) Cavers and several great-nieces and great-nephews.  We ask that friends and family join us in a celebration of Harold’s 97 years at the Sunset United Church, 117 Sunset Drive, Regina at two o’clock on Wednesday, February 5, 2003.  Reverend Lori Erhardt will officiate. Burial will follow at the Riverside Memorial Park. In lieu of flowers, the family would appreciate donations to the Foundation for the Moose Jaw Union Hospital, 455 Fairford St. E., Moose Jaw, S6H 1H3 or to a charity of your choice.  In living memory of Harold, a tree will be planted in Wakamow Valley by W.J.Jones & Son Funeral Home.
