It
is with great sadness that we announce the passing of Lila
Brodie (nee Field) on May 24, 2003
at the age of 90 years, at the McKenzie Towne
Care Centre in Calgary. Lila
is predeceased by her beloved husband, Stuart in 1976 and by her
sister Ada
(Art) Ulleland of Moose Jaw in 1999.
She is survived by her daughters: Donna (Dave) Bates of
Calgary, Rena Brodie of Vancouver, and Beth (Gordon)
Forbes of Calgary; nine grandchildren and four
great-grandchildren; cousin George (Ruth) Field of Moose Jaw and
niece Karen (Rick) Smith and family of Regina. Lila was born on a farm at Boharm and lived
in Moose Jaw
until 1998 when she moved to Saskatoon. She
was a lifelong member of St.Andrews
United
Church
and was active in the UCW for many years, and
also enjoyed working in the Parson’s Pantry and the daycare
nursery. She was skilled at needlework and loved to work in her
garden. Most of all
she was a devoted wife, mother, grandmother, sister and friend to
her neighbours. Failing
health necessitated a move to a nursing home in Calgary, but through it all, she maintained her grace
and dignity, her sense of humour was endearing and won the hearts
of those she met. She
will be greatly missed and lovingly remembered. A Memorial Service will be held in the Chapel at St.
Andrews
United
Church
on Thursday, May
29, 2003
at 11:00 am. Reverend
Peter Calhoun will officiate.
Cremation has taken place and a private family interment is
arranged. Memorials to St. Andrew’s United
Church, 60 Athabasca St.E., Moose Jaw, S6H 0L2
would be appreciated.
In living memory of Lila, a tree will be planted in Wakamow
Valley
by W.J.Jones & Son Funeral Home.
