KATHARINE  "KATIE" ANDERSON

KATHARINE EDNA (KATIE) nee: Wiens, passed away Thursday, May 15, 2003, at the age of 89 years. Born at Wymark, Saskatchewan December 26, 1913, Katie worked as a Nurse’s Aide at the Moose Jaw Union Hospital for 21 years.  She was an active member of the Cosmo Centre and the Scandinavian Club.  She also sang with several choirs: Scandinavian, Sweet Adalines, Sons and Daughters of the Pioneers and Emmanuel Lutheran Church. Katie was always bright and cheery, had a twinkle in her eyes, and a memorable smile – she will be missed, we loved her dearly.  Predeceased by her parents, Jacob and Katharina Wiens, husband, Elmer Anderson in 1981, sister, Mary Overly and brother, Ed Wiens. Katie is survived by daughter, Julie Taylor of Moose Jaw (Ronald Brown of Eyebrow); granddaughters: Kayla (Brian Ling) of Moose Jaw, Pamela (Chris Kemps) of Langley, B.C., Amy Leigh (Terry Poitras) of Delta, B.C., and great-granddaughter, Katie Taylor Kemps, son, Murray Anderson (Gwen Slater) of Chesley, Ont.; grandchildren: Troy of Kingston, Ont., Karin and Eric of Burlington, Ont.; sisters: Martha Chunn and Eva Sim of Winnipeg, brother-in-law, Geo (Lois) Holdal, sister-in-law, Doris (Harry) Spratt, as well as many loving nieces and nephews. The Funeral Service will be held on Monday, May 19, 2003 at 1:30 p.m. in the W.J.Jones & Son Funeral Chapel, 106 Athabasca St. E., Moose Jaw.  Marvin Seaborg will officiate. Private family interment at Bethany Cemetery will take place at a later time.  In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Moose Jaw Cosmo Centre or to a charity of one’s choice. In living memory of Katie, a tree will be planted in Wakamow Valley by W.J.Jones & Son Funeral Home.
