WILHELMINA
ANN (WINNIE) ACOTT, born
January 26, 1913
at Palmer, Saskatchewan,
passed away Tuesday, February 4, 2003.
She was raised on a farm northwest of Palmer, along with
her younger sister, Frances, by their parents, Frank and Margeret
Burnett. The farm was
called Happy Hill Farm. She
attended school at Flaxton
School. Later in life she met Charles
Acott, a grain buyer for
Consolidated Grain in Palmer, Saskatchewan. They were married on September 1, 1937
at St. Andrew’s
United
Church
in Moose
Jaw. They purchased a store and post office in Constance,
Saskatchewan
and started operating it in September 1937. Winnie had a son, Charles Keith Francis Acott, born
September 4, 1938. Winnie
enjoyed meeting and talking to people and received great enjoyment
working in the store and post office.
She had many friends around the country and corresponded
with all of them on a regular basis, never forgetting a birthday
or anniversary. They
sold the business in 1966 and moved to Nanaimo,
B.C. for a short period of time, returning to Assiniboia,
Saskatchewan
in 1967 where they resided until moving to Moose
Jaw in 1982 to Victoria
Towers. Predeceased by her parents, her husband, Charles in 1988
and her sister, Frances. Winnie
is survived by her son, Keith of Moose Jaw; grandson, Richard
(Patsy) and their children: Jesse and Janelle.
In keeping with Winnie’s request, a private family
service will be held with burial at Sunset
Cemetery. Memorials to Pioneer

living memory of Winnie, a tree will be planted in Wakamow
Valley
by W.J.Jones & Son Funeral Home.
