JAMES COGHILL

On Wednesday, December 4, 2002, JAMES HENRY COGHILL passed away at home at the age of 70 after a short fight with cancer. James was born on the homestead at Stoney Beach, Saskatchewan on July 27, 1932.  He married Mary Ellen Gruben of Moose Jaw on April 12, 1958. He worked for CN Rail until his retirement in 1987. James and Mary lived at Stoney Beach until 1990 when they moved into Moose Jaw. Our dad had many friends all who thought the world of him. Common things they often said about him was happy go lucky, the nicest man you could ever meet, he would do anything for you, he would give you the shirt off his back.  He was very well respected and liked by all who knew him.  James enjoyed going to the Lodges, and to the meat draws, he would seldom miss one of these occasions.  He enjoyed his yard and planting his own garden and in the fall making his own pickles.  James is predeceased by his wife, Mary Ellen in October 1992 and his parents, Harry and Gwendolyn and two brothers: Cyril and George.  He will be fondly remembered by his sons: Jim (Cheryl) of Moose Jaw, Ron (Donna) of Medicine Hat, Alta.; Allen (Terri) of Moose Jaw and his daughter Carol (Kelly) Mentanko of Kitimat, BC. Grandpa will be missed by Pamela, Alanna, Christopher, Travis, Justin, Jordan and Kallie as they adored him very much.  He leaves to mourn sisters: Pearl, Beth, Marj and Faye; and brother, Raymond and their families as well as numerous relatives and friends.  In keeping with his wish, there will be no funeral services.  Following cremation, A Memorial Tea to share memories will be held on Monday, December 9, 2002 from 7-9 p.m. at the Elk’s Hall, 358 Langdon Crescent, Moose Jaw.  There will be a family interment and dedication in the spring when the flowers are awakening. Donations in James’ memory to the Canadian Cancer Society, 223 Fairford St. E., Moose Jaw, Sask., S6H 0E1 would be appreciated. In living memory of James, a tree will be planted in Wakamow Valley by W.J.Jones & Son Funeral Home.
